Recent Times

As the organisational changes took effect the growth that was occurring put pressures on the space available at Broad Lane. A major redevelopment of this site started in 1996 which added additional production and administration facilities.

In 2001 the Group acquired the site adjacent to the Broad Lane factory which will enable further growth to be accommodated.

For over 30 years PMD had been involved in building surface treatment plant through PMD Engineering. However, in 2002 it was decided that this activity no longer fitted with the Group's long term strategy and it was sold to Norman Hay plc.

Sadly 2002 saw the death of the remaining founder Eddie Marlow. To honour his contribution to Metal Finishing an IMF award was inaugurated.This is awarded annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the education and training of people working in surface engineering.

In January 2003 the Group completed the acquisition of MFS(UK) Ltd which strengthened the portfolio of products and processes of PMD Chemicals.

Following the sale of the Warwick sites in 2005, Metallic Protectives moved to new premises in Southam and Metallic Protectives Plating moved to the Broad Lane site in Coventry.

The Chemicals Division of PMD(UK)Ltd strengthened its portfolio of products and processes with the acquisition of the assets of Alekos Chemicals in May 2006.

In Its 57th year of operation PMD Group established its first wholly owned overseas facility, PMD Chemicals Pvt. Ltd in Pune, India. This will enable PMD to offer its complete range of electroplating and surface treatment processes to the automotive, electronic, printed circuit board and jewellery industries in India. 2012 saw the further expansion of PMD Chemicals with the appointment of distributors in key strtaegic markets.

Metallic Protectives Plating Ltd was closed in 2016 owing to decreasing requirements for its services. This freed up further space on the Broad Lane site to support in the in house manufacture of products for PMD Chemicals.

PMD Chemicals Pvt Ltd featured in the 2017 India 5000 Best MSME Awards.

PMD Group feature in 2018 Sunday Times Lloyds SME Export Track 100 as one of the fastest growing SME Exporters.
